Do you ever.....
✷ Feel stuck, held back, or blocked?
✷ Long to feel whole and free?
✷ Wish to grow rather than simply survive?
✷ Find your body and mind continue to get activated?
✷ Even though you might have done a lot of work on yourself (psychotherapy, self-growth, and/or healing programs), do you still feel limited by the past?
Trauma turns on the fight, flight or freeze responses and keeps them in constant high gear so your mind and body are never really at rest. Even after years of good therapy, many individuals experience their body and/or mind still have these post-traumatic tendencies. Our bodies respond to trauma with a state of either hyper-arousal (fear, reactivity, anxiety, rage, anger, panic, terror) and/or hypo-arousal (falling into a coma like deep sleep, lethargy, withdrawal, dissociated, constricted, spacey, disconnected, feeling “nowhere” or almost unconscious)
We created this safe and sacred community so you can become empowered by understanding how the brain reacts to trauma and by learning useful tools and skills to calm and soothe brain and body.
✓ Each month you will have the opportunity to learn how to work with feelings and body states that cause you discomfort or struggle.

Borne of inspiration, experience and grace:
I have spent the last 35 years in private practice as a clinical psychologist and Trauma Specialist, helping people reduce their suffering while empowering them to claim their strengths and talents so they can live a more fulfilling and richer life. I have also practiced meditation for more than 50 years. In June of 2018, I co-hosted the Healing Trauma Summit on Sounds True®. At the time of the summit I was inundated with comments and stories from so many people seeking information, practices, and support in dealing with their own trauma. Many people struggle with limited or no access to tools and strategies for working with their trauma and the symptoms that live on in their mind and body. Many others who reached out were looking for tools and support they could utilize outside of the four walls of their psychotherapist’s office. I soon realized more people needed a way to access the tools and skills I had cultivated over a lifetime of practice. Meanwhile my wife AnaLisa, who is a trauma survivor, was watching the Healing Trauma Summit and unbeknownst to me, was remembering how years ago during her own trauma treatment she had longed for some place to learn tools for self-soothing, building compassion for self, grounding, releasing shame, and the ability to be in relationships with less fear and self-consciousness. As both a trauma survivor and someone trained in several therapeutic modalities, AnaLisa knows first hand the importance of access to these tools and resources. It wasn’t until after the Summit when we began to speak to one another about this evolving vision in our minds did we realize we had both been visualizing the same thing at the same time. AnaLisa and I knew we wanted to create a space for individuals who have experienced trauma and who are looking for tools and practices that can support their healing path, as well as transform their suffering and struggles. We wanted it to be a low-barrier, low cost investment for members so that it would be more widely accessible. We envision a community that is devoted to growth after trauma, to (re-) claiming our wholeness, a deeper compassion, wisdom, and strength. A community full of learning techniques and practices to soothe the traumatized brain and body; in effect to be able to release the stuckness that trauma can facilitate, and to be able to shift into a more enduring sense of stability and wholeness. So through, experience, inspiration and grace, we proudly introduce The Sanctuary for Growth After Trauma.

AnaLisa Rutstein MA, CHP, CHC For much of my life I have struggled. I struggled from a very young child until my 30’s with severe anxiety, phobias, OCD, chronic illness, chronic pain, depression, eating disorders (bulimia, binge eating, compulsive overeating, anorexia), self injurious and suicidal behaviors and impulses, and severe PTSD. This was all a response to, and management of, the experience of long-term Severe Childhood Trauma & Abuse (sexual, physical, & emotional) This emotional, physical, and spiritual pain drove me to seek help through so many avenues. I was engaged in several long-term intensive psychotherapies, I undertook training in various healing and therapeutic modalities (MA in Clinical Psychology, Hakomi Mindfulness-Centered Somatic Therapy, Expressive Arts, Imago Therapy, Sensory-Motor Psychotherapy for Trauma, Reiki Master Teacher Training, Eating Psychology Coach Training, and Mindfulness-Based Eating Awareness Training, Transformational Coach, Certification in Health Coaching from IIN). Additionally, I undertook studying and practicing various emotional and spiritual healing methods. You see my early experiences of pain and suffering became a catalyst for my life-long seeking of solutions for myself and for others. It was my pain and fear that was what ultimately helped me transform those experiences into doorways to freedom. Using every bit of my life, from my childhood experiences of abuse, to my graduate and post-graduate training in psychology, mindfulness-based body approaches and healing modalities, and my years of in-depth spiritual training , I bring to bear almost two decades of my experience and skills to help you find your freedom and connection. My calling is to continue to inspire, uplift, empower and teach all who are struggling so that they too can overcome fear and anxiety and be free to have a life that is not limited by their past or beliefs .
